I’m not vegan.
I stopped eating meat about six years ago, but I still occasionally eat eggs and dairy—usually when I receive them as a gift or when I eat out. At home, though, I try not to use them in my cooking.
I do eat fish, but less and less over the years. These days, my meals are about 70% plant-based, and I’ve come to feel that this balance suits me well.
I’m also a mother of two young children (ages 1 and 3), and the rest of my family eats everything. Because of that, our table is always filled with a variety of dishes.
I chose the title “Vegan Washoku” for this blog because I realized that many of the meals I cook every day naturally turn out to be vegan. I hope to share these simple, everyday Japanese dishes with anyone who is interested in plant-based Japanese food.
